Residential Alteration

4650 Fieldston Road | Bronx, NY

The Challenges

  • Coordinating MEP systems across cellar, first floor, second floor, and attic levels.
  • Meeting 2022 NYC Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fuel Gas Codes and the 2020 NYC Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC).
  • Replacing outdated plumbing and mechanical systems while preserving structural integrity.

The Horizon MEP Solution

  • Designed a multi-zone HVAC system using high-efficiency heat pump split systems (1–2 ton capacities) with dedicated exhaust for bathrooms, laundry, and kitchens.
  • Developed a complete LED lighting and power distribution plan with GFCI-protected, weather-resistant exterior receptacles.
  • Engineered a new gas-fired water heater (100 MBH) and a coordinated sanitary waste and vent system with freeze protection for cold areas.
  • All systems were designed to pass NYC Special Inspections and meet NYCECC energy performance requirements.

The Result

A fully integrated, permit-ready MEP design that maximized usable living space and enabled smooth construction with high-efficiency long-term performance.
